Drift Away

Drift Away isn't a site that I ever thought I'd make. Pokemon look easy to build fansites to because there isn't much depth to them, but that's exactly why sites to them are challenging. When making this site, I did a lot of reading between the lines, drawing connections between things in and out of the Pokemon games, and a lot of asking myself why. Why does Drifloon do the things it does? I hypothesized a lot, and a good chunk of this site is me playing with theories, and drawing relationships between Drifloon and legends, history, and other media. I tried to draw everything back to Drifloon and Drifblim using facts from the games. This site is an intimate look at how I see Drifloon and Drifblim, and what makes the duo my favorite Pokemon.

I see Drifloon and Drifblim as one Pokemon. Its evolution, Drifblim, is an extension of Drifloon to me. it's the same Pokemon I trained in all the games I used it in; it just evolved and grew stronger. It's hard for me to look at one without looking at the other, so Drift Away is a tribute to both Drifloon and Drifblim. Admittedly, I focused more on Drifloon, but a lot less is known about Drifblim. Because I see Drifblim as an evolved Drifloon, I feel I'm covering Drifblim as well when I discuss Drifloon.

This site took a long time to make. I started it sometime early in 2016, maybe late 2015. The date is fuzzy because it was so long ago, but I sat the site down several times in various forms of completion because my life got busy. It's a project I kept coming back to, however, and I put a lot of effort into finally finishing it in January 2017. It launched on January 20th.

This site is dedicated to my good friend Samantha. I didn't think anyone would want to read my wild theories on Drifloon, but she kept encouraging me to write about Drifloon. She encouraged me to keep working on this site. She kept telling me how good it was, and how excited she was for me to finish this project. She motivated me. With her own Pokemon sites, she inspired me. This site would not be here today without her.

Finally, I need to not just thank, but give credit to Nintendo and Game Freak, for creating these games. Drifloon, Drifblim, and Pokemon are their property. I'm just a fan with too much time on my hands and too wild of an imagination.

I hope you enjoyed my site. Please let me know if you have any questions or issues! I love hearing from my visitors.
